White bathroom sink with a blue toothbrush holder next to itWe each start and end our day in front of the bathroom mirror. When product bottles, loose hair strands, and toothpaste clutter the counter the place feels cramped, not to mention unsanitary. We tend to think of the bathroom as a big, dirty chore, but it doesn’t have to be. There are very easy ways to keep your vanity looking presentable, which will improve your entire morning routine.

Clean Regularly

If the adage “cleanliness is next to godliness” is true, then you can both look and feel like a goddess when getting ready in a clean bathroom. All it takes is a paper towel, some all-purpose cleaner, and five minutes. Clear everything off the counter, spray on the cleaner, and wipe it with the paper towel. Go back over the area with a wet paper towel or rag to remove any remaining residue. Do this at least twice a week.

Use newspaper instead of a rag to wipe the mirror. It really does leave no streaks and saves your paper towels.

The residue that gets stuck to the outside of the soap dispenser looks messy. Hold the dispenser under running water and scrub the soap off.

Become and Organization Expert

We tend to keep hairspray, shaving cream, brushes, and other products on the countertop because it seems a hassle to put them away after each use. However, too many items on your vanity look cluttery, even if they’re arranged neatly. The only things you should keep on the counter are soap and a small decorative piece. Hide away everything else.

If you do want to store items on the counter because it’s an easy-to-reach spot, arrange them in a basket so they don’t become scattered. Better yet, install a shelf. Bookshelves aren’t just for books, but they work great in the bathroom to store products.

Use a basket under the sink to keep everything arranged neatly. Buy an extra plastic silverware tray to use in your bathroom drawer for items like hair ties and toothbrushes. Create more storage by purchasing a set of plastic drawers to place next to the vanity or under the sink.

Often curling and flat irons get left on the counter while they cool down. The cords that hang on the floor can be dangerous and annoying. Instead, try attaching hooks to the wall or inside cabinet doors to hang them on. Then you don’t have to wait for them to cool before putting them away and they’re easy to grab for a quick evening touchup.

With a tidy bathroom you’ll start and end your day in a better mood.
