Let’s assume that you’ve just purchased, assembled, and installed beautiful new cabinets from Cabinet Corner. Now what?

As great as your kitchen looks, there is more that you can do by way of decorating and designing to complete the appearance of your kitchen. One popular interior design technique is to use under-cabinet lighting. Let’s take a look at the different types of under-cabinet lighting and help you choose the right type for you!

Light Source

Fluorescent

Fluorescent lights are a great option due to their energy efficiency, and relatively low cost. One big advantage to fluorescent lights is that they give off very little heat, which can be important depending on what is stored above in the cabinets or what is lying directly beneath on the counters.

Xenon

Xenon lights have full dimming capacities and they produce a warm, more natural-looking glow. If you are someone who doesn’t like the ‘white light’ look that other lights sometimes produce, xenon lights are a great option for you. They do give off heat, so keep that in mind as you are choosing what to put in each cabinet.

LEDs

LED lights are probably the most energy-efficient lights you could choose, and they will last a lot longer than other lights. The downside is the price tag, but the extended lifetime may just make them pay off.

Light Shape

Puck Lights

Shaped like small hockey pucks, these round lights add emphasis to specific areas in your kitchen. Puck lights are great for people who are looking for something that is easy to install. Many puck lights are battery powered and can be simply stuck to the underside of the cabinets.

Strips

Strips, or linear lights, create a well-distributed light source for the entire counter surface. They can usually be hardwired (connected directly to the power source), plug-in (requires you to plug them into an outlet), or sometimes even battery-powered.

As you can see, there are many different options for your under-cabinet lighting. Choose the style that fits your kitchen’s personality! We’d love to see the final results of your Cabinet Corner cabinets with lighting. Share them with us on our Facebook page!
